For Yemen, funding shortages continue for the World Food Programme's operation in that country.
Daly Belgasmi of WFP states, "Food insecurity and malnutrition in Yemen are reaching critical emergency levels as one in three Yemenis struggle to access the food they need for their families, making Yemen one of the countries worst affected by hunger in the world."
Meanwhile Congress has yet to pass the Roadmap to End Global Hunger legislation (H.R. 2817), despite the record number of people joining the ranks of the hungry. The Roadmap legislation would establish more effective coordination for the U.S. response to the global food crisis.
