Below is an update from the UN World Food Programme (WFP) on flood relief in Pakistan. A complex operation is ongoing meeting emergency food needs and establishing recovery projects. WFP is distributing seed kits to help revive the agricultural sector which suffered heavy losses from the floods.
The WFP relief operation is facing a severe funding shortage. Without increased funding food rations will need to be reduced. With child malnutrition rates fast rising a winter tragedy could be forthcoming in Pakistan.
