Officials from the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the government of Afghanistan met Tuesday to discuss the strategy for fighting hunger. There are 7 million people in Afghanistan who lack access to basic foods. Child malnutrition rates are among the highest in the world.
WFP helps Afghanistan by providing food assistance to those impacted by conflict and natural disasters. Other work is geared toward building food security through improving agricultural production.
