Today in history: Marshall's speech to stop hunger winter
It was on November 10, 1947 when Secretary of State George Marshall appealed to Congress about feeding the hungry in Europe. With winter approaching Italy, Austria and France were in a desperate situation.

You can influence world affairs by feeding the hungry
This week is the anniversary of President Harry Truman’s historic first TV address
from the White House. His speech was about America’s most urgent
foreign policy issue: hunger. Europe was suffering with food shortages
as it struggled to rebuild from World War II.
