Save the Children is urging world leaders to take action in fighting child hunger and improving maternal health. Around the globe millions of small children die each year from lack of food. Many children who survive hunger and malnutrition suffer great mental and physical damage. At the upcoming G-8 summit in Canada, Save the Children wants world leaders to support a powerful initiative to improve child and maternal health worldwide.

WESTPORT, Conn. (June 9, 2010) — Millions of mothers' and children's lives will be on the line when President Obama and other major world leaders gather in Muskoka, Canada June 25-26. Together, the leaders will consider the first G-8 initiative aimed at slashing the tragically high numbers of preventable deaths among mothers, newborns and young children.
