When Nazi Germany invaded Norway in 1940, it was not long before Duluth sprang into action with a group called the Women’s Committee for Norwegian Relief.
The committee collected donations to provide relief supplies for suffering Norwegians. Sewing and knitting groups went to work to make clothes for the needy. The Duluth committee was innovative, too. It held a baby shower at the YWCA to collect clothing for infants in Norway.
